Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to some of the most frequent questions we receive.

Q: How do I join TB Paranormal?

A: As of right now we don't have a recruitment process in place and at this moment are not seeking new recruits. We simply look for new investigators as we have need for them. We currently have 6 permanent investigators and have used 5 guest investigators on previous investigations. Should we decide to expand, we feel it is likely we would have some form of open competition... perhaps have people send in resumes or video applications. We do anticipate we'll continue to grow though, as a year ago there were 3 members and we would get an investigation every few months. Now we have a waiting list!

Q: What does Paranormal mean?

Paranormal is quite simply a term that describes experiences or occurences that lie outside the range of normal experience or scientific explanation. It doesn't necessarily mean ghosts aliens, cryptoids or spirits, but rather that it is something that cannot be explained by current science.

How do you conduct investigations?

The Thunder Bay Paranormal Society primarily focuses on the concept of ghosts, spirits, and active or residual hauntings. Our mission is to investigate alleged claims of this kind of paranormal activity, then to try to debunk them using audio and video recording, photography, and a host of other techniques for gathering raw data. We try to eliminate every possible scientific explanation in order to ensure nobody gets excited about false evidence. We've invested in literally thousands of dollars worth of gear to ensure if anything unusual happens at a location, we will see or hear it. We also have investigators exploring the location for both debunking purposes, as well as to try to experience activity for themselves. For more on how we conduct investigations stay tuned for an upcoming page about investigations.
